BMW 316i touring
BMW presented the first touring models in the 3 Series at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1987. The move away from the image of the “estate car” as a pure utility vehicle towards that of a model for purchasers geared to sport and leisure enabled the touring to achieve great success. In 1991, the touring model of the BMW 3 Series was also supplied with the smallest 4-cylinder engine.

As early as 1985, BMW had included the 325iX in its range as the first vehicle after the war with permanent four-wheel drive. The launch of the new touring models enabled customers to order this engine in a further version.
