Ford Falcon Wagons (1960-1963)

First generation (1960–1963)

Lowest-priced 6-passenger Station Wagons from the U. S.

For family wagon work and fan on a low budget, this one’s unbeatable. Not only does it seat six comfortably, but it has cargo space galore (76.2 cu. ft. ). Combines Falcon distinctiveness with new wagon conveniences.

Developed from the Ford Falcon and perfected by the world’s station wagon specialists, the Falcon Wagons were bound to be winners. And that’s exactly what they are! To begin with, every Falcon advantage was built into the Falcon Wagons: up-front Falcon six-cylinder engine with up-to-30-miles-per-gallon economy, generous room for six passengers, single-unit body construction, and all the other fine details that make the Ford Falcon such a popular bargain.

Add to this the refinements and know-how that have made Ford the industry9s leading station wagon maker, and it’s easy to see why Falcon Wagons are such favorites. Consider loadspace, for example: you’ll find that the compact Falcon Wagon has a loadspace up to a foot longer and virtually as wide as full-sized station wagons of four years ago. Notice how handily the spare tire stows at the side of the loadspace. And when you compare price, you’ll find Falcon Wagons are priced lower than any other 6-passenger wagons from the U.S.

Illustrated below are three special Falcon Wagon features. The easy-opening tailgate, neatly located spare tire, and extra-long load space (longest in the compact wagon field). All examples of the superior attention to detail and resulting owner bonuses found in the Falcon Wagons. You’ll see other examples wherever you look. Consider the second seat: It flips down flat and snug in seconds for a completely level load space, and in the up position it’s locked securely in position by a safety latch. Door openings are extra wide and you9ll find no windshield dogleg projecting into the front entrance getting in and out is easy. Thanks to careful window design and husky, narrow roof support posts, Falcon Wagons have better visibility than any other U.S. wagon in this class. Everywhere, from the aluminized muffler to the Lifeguard steering wheel, you9ll find features which mean more value for your money.

For that surplus baggage or gear, a Luggage Rack is just the ticket – adds nice styling emphasis, too.

In the new Ford Falcon Wagon, you get a brand new, proven six-cylinder engine, designed for low cost and easy servicing. It can deliver up to 50% better gas mileage than even Ford’s famous economical Mileage Maker Six. The Falcon Six is of dependable cast iron construction. It’s a short-stroke, low piston travel, in-line Six with free-turning overhead valves, wedge-type combustion chambers, 12-volt electrical system. Efficient new intake manifold is cast integrally with the head; it’s lighter, provides better fuel distribution, requires fewer parts and does away with wasteful leaks. Hot water heater gives free heat. (A gas heater, as is frequently used in cars with air cooled engines, burns up to 10% of the car9s gasoline). And the Falcon Six is electronically mass-balanced while operating under its own power.

MOST LUXURIOUS INTERIORS IN ITS CLASS

For sheer attractiveness and practicality, Falcon Wagon interiors match any wagon on the road. For example, there’s luxurious foam padding in both front and rear seats standard at no extra cost. Colorful, leather-like vinyl upholstery (with new Multi-block fabric if you so choose) resists the wear and tear of all kinds of cargo. Look over the different trim selections at your local dealer. No other wagon in its class offers so many. You’ll find full insulation in a Falcon Wagon.
