
It was only until 1977 that the name LeBaron was used for a Chrysler branded car. As a Chrysler model, the LeBaron was offered in a range of body styles, and was built in three generations:
1st Generations 1977–1981 (First Modern Generation)
M-body platform (shared with Dodge Diplomat and Plymouth Gran Fury). Front-engine, rear-wheel drive (RWD) midsize luxury sedan and coupe with traditional, boxy American styling. Features (optional or standard by trim) included Plush velour or leather interior, Wire wheel covers, AM/FM 8-track or cassette stereo, Power windows, seats, locks, Air conditioning, Vinyl roof, Opera windows (on coupe), Simulated woodgrain (interior trim), Cornering lights and luxury lighting packages.
