BMW 502 Limousine/Saloon Models (1954-1963)

In early 1954, BMW debuted the more luxurious 502 Limousine and Saloon Models. The world’s first all-alloy V8 engine for volume production was installed in this car with an output of 100 hp.

BMW 502

At the International Motor Show in Geneva early 1954, the Type 502 debuted with a 100-hp  2.6 liter light alloy eight-cylinder engine that made this model one of the fastest touring car on the market. The body had to distinguish the BMW 501 more chrome trim as well as additional fog lamps on, the standard equipment was rich.

BMW 2600 L

The last version of the BMW 502, the BMW 2600 L with 110-hp, was released in July 1961 and was manufactured until the end of 1963. 2600 L had a standard disc brakes on the front axle and could be supplied on request with a floor shift.

BMW 3200 L

From model year 1962 and production ended in December 1963, the BMW 3200 L was the official model designation for 502 3.2 liter. The revised model was standard with disc brakes. The engine output increased to 140 hp. Striking were the new, now round taillights, the models 2600 L, 3200 L and 3200 S shared. From the autumn of 1962, these vehicles could also be supplied on request with a floor shift.

BMW 3200 S

As of September 1958, BMW marketed the 502 3.2 liters as premium BMW 3.2 Super, from model year 1962 and production ended in November 1963 when BMW S 3200, now with 160 hp and a top speed of 190 km / h. BMW S 3200 was making it the fastest German sedan at the time. Striking were the new, now round taillights, the models 2600 L, 3200 L and 3200 S shared. From the autumn of 1962, these vehicles could also be supplied on request with a floor shift.

BMW 502 3,2 Liter

Just one year after the launch of the BMW flagship model 502 with 100-hp V8 engine for 1955, the BMW 502 3.2 liter with 120 hp on the market. The car was one of the most exclusive luxury cars of Europe. As of October 1958, the model designation was changed to BMW 3.2. The last generation of this type resulted from model year 1962, the designation BMW 3200 L and had 140 hp. From 1960, these cars could be equipped with front disc brakes.

BMW 502 3,2 Liter Super

In the spring of 1957, BMW presented a new top model of the series 502, the BMW 502 3.2 liter Super. The well-known from the BMW 503 and 507 V8 engine with 3.2 liter capacity and 2 twin downdraft carburetors (previous 502 models only a carburetor) made in the new sedan 140-hp and made for superior performance.

BMW 3,2 Super

From September 1958 to model year 1962 BMW marketed the BMW 502 3.2 liters of premium with a BMW 3.2 Super. To be able to slow down the fast touring saloon with 2 double downdraft carburetors and 140 hp adequately, BMW delivered from the 3.2 Super model from 1960 with front disc brakes.

BMW 505 Limousine / Saloon

On the 200 mm longer chassis of the BMW 502 3.2 liter 1955 two Pullman limousines originated with the type designation BMW 505 300 as a counterpart to the Mercedes-Benz Responsible for the body design was the Studio Michelotti in Turin, the production took over the Swiss company Ghia-Aigle in Lugano.
